Karachi Vice: Life and Death in a Contested City
It is a well-written book. A page-turner. Based on the real lives of people in Karachi, pre-2012. Samira Shackle paints an image of Karachi through the perspective of five people who develop various ways to help their community in adversarial times. Even though she narrates the stories of these five individuals, we are aware of numerous others in the society that help support the growth of their region. Heartbreaking, warm, full of grit, perseverance, patience, and humanity in the face of difficult times. All one needs is conviction, and even the harshest times cannot stop them. I would recommend everyone read this.
